Last week of January was particularly busy in Yerevan for #BridgingStories family. Due to postponing the exhibition in Istanbul for security reasons, it became possible to support the travel of all participants from Turkey to Yerevan. As a result, the family was once again together, welcoming the visitors of the exhibition on the opening day and then participating at a 3-day workshop held by John Stanmeyer.
On the day of exhibition opening the participants and guests were greeted by the US Ambassador in Armenia Richard M. Mills. His welcoming speech was followed by short conversations with the participants from Armenia and Turkey. Various Armenian media representatives were also at the exhibition interviewing the organizers and the participants of the project. During the next three days John Stanmeyer held a workshop together with Serra Akcan and Anush Babajanyan. During the workshop more guidance was given to photographers to further improve their skills in storytelling.
Together with the US Embassy representatives the participants also exchanged ideas about the future of #BridgindStories, such as publishing a book with their stories, as well as possibly holding the exhibition in Istanbul as it was initially planned. The possible continuation of the #BridgingStories project and the involvement of the participants in the next phases was also the topic of discussions.
Storyteller's Cafe would like to express its gratitude to the US Embassy in Armenia for supporting this project, as well as Hrant Dink Foundation for providing travel grants to some of the participants.
